Our grammar of contemporary Votic language was first published in 2011 as a two-volume set: a collection of annotated Votic texts and a grammar description. In 2017, the second improved edition was released as an electronic book. By pressing the buttons below you can download the electronic version of the grammar and the audio recordings of the texts presented in the text collection.

ANNOTATION

Votic is a minor Finnic language spoken in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad province (the Russian Federation). The first part of the book contains translated and annotated Votic texts recorded in the beginning of the 2000-s. The texts are presented in phonetic and standardized phonological transcription, and provided with morphological annotation, a glossary, and grammar indexes. The second part of the book is a synchronic grammar based on the Jõgõperä and Liivtšülä-Luuditsa varieties. The grammatical description addresses phonetics, phonology, morphophonology, morphology, and syntax of contemporary Votic. We offer a system of morphological synthesis for building full inflectional paradigms of all words from the glossary. The third part of the book is a bibliography that lists linguistic works on the Votic language since the 19th century up to the present.
